Music To Your Ears

Everyone knows that “Chicago” is a toddlin’ town and that if you can make in “New York, New York” you can make it anywhere. Our cities help define us, and therefore we strive to define them as well, often in popular song. From “Let’s Put the Troy in Destroy” by the mighty Achilles, to “Atlantis” by the gentle Donovan, to “Nothing Rhymes with Freehold, New Jersey” by the gently mighty Springsteen, the genre of “city-song” has long been embraced by both songwriters and the song-listening public.

But without question, the single greatest song ever about any city throughout all history is “Bear City” by Brady Harris. We humbly offer it to you now.

Holy Smoke, I’ve got to have that on my iPod!!!

Okay, here’s a downloadable version of the Bear City song.

Has Brady Harris written any other songs about cities?

No, he hasn’t. Except for “Rabbit Town.”

Hmm…Rabbit Town vs Bear City is going to be a tough one to call. On one side Rabbit Town is going to be more populated and therefore have more rabbits at their disposal in an all out war against Bear City. Also, there may be some “vile rabbits” amoung Rabbit Town; this has to be taken into effect. On the other side, Bear City, has less population but they pack more of a punch (theyre bears duh).

Its going to be a tough one to call but I am going to say that Bear City wins.
